Spiritual Father, Spiritual Sons

(Special Tribute Album: download the Fr. Fernando Tribute Album today)

One of our dear spiritual sons in the Philippines designed the following image, which was used for the obituary, the one year anniversary of the passing of Fr. Fernando Suarez into the glory of God:

It was placed in the Manila Bulletin, where you can see on the right hand side, all the holy Masses celebrated throughout the world to honour God for this man, His servant in the healing ministry.

Truly, Fr. Fernando was a remarkable man...perhaps something similar to what John the Evangelist said about the Lord Jesus, could be said about Fr. Fernando:

"But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written." (John 21:25)

One thing for sure that we noticed with Fr. Fernando's ministry, is that (like St. Pio) he had so many spiritual children around the world. We are certainly privileged to call him our spiritual father.

We bless the Lord, for giving us many "spiritual children," several through Fr. Fernando's intercession. He is still constantly intervening!

Another one of our spiritual sons, whom we met in Andhra Pradesh, India, wrote a beautiful reflection on the Gospel from today's Mass readings. He is a lay evangelist, a spiritual writer who uses his Facebook page to write many articles about Our Lord and Our Lady in a place in the world that is hostile to Christians, especially Catholics. Please pray for him, as he is prayerfully and in faith looking for a new job!

Here is his faith-building article:

Sunday 5th (B) in Ordinary Time -:Gospel text (Mk 1,29-39):

Today we are given to contemplate Jesus at Capernaum, in the midst of His ministry, and more precisely, in Simon Peter's family home: «On leaving the synagogue, Jesus went to the home of Simon and Andrew» (Mk 1:29). There, He met his family, those who hear the word of God and do it (cf. Lk 8:21). Simon's mother-in-law is sick in bed and He, with a gesture that goes far beyond any anecdote, takes her by the hand, raises her up and allows her to wait on them. The poor and ailing people are brought to him and Jesus heals them with the simple touch of his hand, which is a source of life. They are free and saved. We are all looking for Christ, some quite willingly and disposed; others perhaps not being quite conscious as «You have made us, O Lord, for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you» (St. Augustine). But, just as we look for him, for we need him to deliver us from evil and the Malign, He also comes close to us to help us accomplish what we could never attain by ourselves. He became feeble to join us who are feeble, «I have become all things to all, to save at least some» (1Cor 9:22). His hands are stretched out towards us that are lying overwhelmed by so much evil; we only have to stretch out ours and we shall find ourselves standing up and ready to reassume our service. We can “open” our hands by means of prayer, while following the example set up by the Lord: «Very early in the morning, before daylight, Jesus went off to a lonely place where He prayed» (Mk 1:35). In addition, every Sunday Eucharist is our meeting with the Lord who comes to raise us from our routine and dejection sins and makes out of us the living testimonies of an encounter that constantly renew us, and truly sets us free in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Our dear Fr. Prasanth celebrated Masses, held all-night vigils, and much more to honour the one year of Father's passing into glory. On the anniversary itself, he organized a feeding program for 200 needy people, as he said, he felt that this was the best way that he could honour Fr. Fernando's kindness and generosity to him.

All in all, we want to honour Fr. Fernando this day. But also, we feel to honour these young men, as well, who seek to lay down their lives for their friends, (John 15:13) as a seed into the ground to bear much fruit. (John 12:24) Please pray for them!

The life of Fr. Fernando has left an amazing legacy and testimony of healing, miracles, and most of all, love of God and neighbor.
